This is the second release of the Classic Cut series, launched in 2017. The expression takes its name from the third of Macallan’s six pillars, known as the “finest cut,” in reference to their selection of only the most superior quality spirit from their stills.

A limited edition of a timeless spirit. Offering a special take on The Macallan, this whisky offers an indulgent character with a satisfyingly long finish. Autumn Sunset in appearance. Aromas of creamy vanilla custard, sweet ginger and fresh sweet oak. Flavors of caramel, hints of orange zest and a warming nutmeg spice. Satisfyingly long, with a warming oak and a sweet mouth coating finish.

Exclusively matured in hand-picked sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, Spain & bottled to reveal the extraordinary character of a timeless spirit. Inspiration and innovation lie at the heart of The Macallan and in Classic Cut they have gone to extraordinary lengths to reveal the unique character of the whisky.

Distillery Notes:

The second edition in the limited annual series, The Macallan Classic Cut – 2018 Edition has an ABV of 51.2% chosen by the Whisky Maker Ian Morrison as the optimum strength to reveal a dominant sweetness and the well balanced flavours delivered by the exceptional Sherry Oak Casks. After allowing to breathe for 10-15 minutes, heightened flavours of citrus, sweet vanilla and spice come to the forefront, combined with a satisfyingly long dry oak finish. Classic Cut 2018 is a truly indulgent single malt whisky.

Once filled, the maturing spirit remains undisturbed in the same casks for the necessary number of years it needs to be worthy of its destined Macallan expression. It is these oak casks that make the greatest contribution to the quality, natural colour and distinctive aromas and flavours which lie at the heart of The Macallan single malt.
